(October 23, 2008, HENDERSON, NV) – St. Rose Dominican Hospitals – San Martín Campus, in southwest Las Vegas, is hosting its 3rd Annual Pet Blessing and Animal Fair on Sunday, November 2, from 1-3 p.m., in the Healing Garden. The event is being held in honor of Saint Martín de Porres after whom the San Martín Campus was named as he was known for his compassion toward animals and people. The group pet blessing will be at 2:30 p.m.
According to Vicky VanMeetren, president, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals – San Martín Campus, “We feel the uniqueness of the event – blessing the pets we all love so dearly – is what draws so many people to it. The connection that people feel to their animals is deep and there is a desire for them to be looked over and protected by a higher power. We are happy that our spiritual care and mission integration team is able to provide such a unique community service. It’s a fun event and a nice way to meet the “other members” of our community families!
This year’s event features many animal-friendly partners that will have information, give demonstrations and provide drawings, including American Pet Products Company, America Dog and Cat Hotel, Anthem Pet Sitting, Barking Dogs Bakery and Boutique, Betty Honn’s Animal Adoptions, Doggies Unlimited, Heaven Can Wait and Nevada SPCA. Demonstrations will be provided by both the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s K-9 Unit and the Vegas Valley Dog Obedience Club. Light refreshments will be served.
The San Martín Campus is located on Warm Springs Road just east of Durango Blvd., and the Healing Garden is toward the back of the hospital. For more information, please call 492-8555.
