St. Rose Cares for the Youngest Members of Our Community
Children are young, full of energy and tend to get small scrapes and bruises. When their injuries or illnesses are more serious, such as broken bones, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) or diabetes, they may need to be admitted to the hospital. The Pediatrics Units at the San Martín and Siena Campuses are staffed with caring physicians, nurses and support staff who are specially trained to work with children.

St. Rose's Pediatrics units are designed to make children and their families feel comfortable. Decorated in bright colors and shapes, the units consist of pediatric rooms and even pediatric ICU rooms at Siena. Each room has a couch that converts to a bed so a parent can stay in the room overnight.
The Pediatrics ICU rooms are equipped for children with serious illnesses and injuries such as brain tumors, respiratory failures and head injuries. The Pediatric ICU nurses are specially trained to care for these critical patients.
Other features of the units include game rooms, exam rooms with dinosaur tables and Kids Korner Groceries.
The Kids Korner Grocery is an award-winning amenity that allows parents to take an active role in their child's care. Using a variety of food choices, parents can prepare meals for their child. For some parents and children, this option helps both feel more relaxed and involved.
Child Life Specialists
Surgery and/or hospitalization can create anxiety for adults and even more so for children. The Pediatrics Units have a Certified Child Life Specialist on staff, trained to help children understand illnesses, procedures and treatments. The child life specialist uses special teaching tools and games to help the child feel more comfortable in the hospital and will even accompany the child into surgery to ease their fears.
To make an appointment to take a tour of one of our pediatric units or to have the child life specialist talk with your child, please call 702.616.5224.
